Some days just suck.

Today I plan to work a 9.5 hour day.

 Russ is home sick.

Today is our 3 year anniversary.

We had a dinner reservation, not sure if we will go.

I bought a new dress for tonight.

I have not shaved my legs so I can wear it.

for those harry potter and twilight fans,,,

Daniel Radcliffe on Robert Pattinson:

Politics aside, a topic that is also on the tip of everyone's tongue came up — "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, who starred alongside Radcliffe in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." "I don't have his number, so haven't spoken to him [about any advice]. But I can safely say that his insisting that girls would choose me over him, that they would not," he said regarding Pattinson's status as a teen idol. "That they do not. He is much prettier and can be much more charming. And he can do that thing of being sultry and sexy."

He added, "Rob can just sort of stand there and look at something and start to smolder. And I just can't do that."

Test Drive

So today was my first adventure driving in snow in the convertible. It was not so good.

The neighborhood was a bit slick but once I made it to the toll road I was fine. I dropped Russ off at the metro and proceeded as usual to work. Big mistake. You see I usually take the back roads to avoid the traffic jam that usually forms in front of my office. To get to my office I have to make a left hand turn that goes up while facing a downward hill. Instead of making that turn this morning I skidded all the way down the hill to 29 and had to find another way to work. I thought I was going to die considering that there were cars on 29 and I was not sure if I could stop and there were cars parked on the side of the road that I almost crashed into.

Bellow is an aerial view of my last mile or so to work. The pink line is the commute I make every morning and the yellow line is what happened today. the star is my office

Bottom line I need a different car. I miss my Land Rover so much. I am hoping I can work from home tomorrow if we do not close.

Hobbies

I used to have hobbies, and now I have work.

I need some new hobbies because I feel kinda empty. I have tried several times to join a book club but it never works out. Beading is expensive, knitting is not really my thing (it takes me for freaking ever to finish anything), I’m usually too tired to read like I used to and cooking has become a chore. I almost signed up for an adult ballet class but chickened out at the last minute and I never go to the free yoga classes at my gym.

I need something to do. Someone suggested becoming a Girl Scout leader. But since I have no daughters of my own and I never made it past brownies this is probably not a good idea.

I got asked yesterday if I wanted to take on a part time job on the evenings and weekends. I can work from home, its more money, and it may turn into a full time position.

So that leaves me with…

  • Work
  • Work
  • Sleep

Still no hobbies. So tell me ladies, what should I try as a potential new hobby?

birthday come early

Thank you American café for remembering my birthday is in February.

But I do not like cake. Can I have a free spinach and queso instead?

UPDATE: i replyed to the e-mail that sent me the free coupon and said that i did not enjoy cake but would rather a spinach con queso or a potato cheese soup and a few minutes later i received an e-mail reply that said. print out this e-mail and receive a free soup or spinach con queso on us! now thats customer service and thats why i keep going back.

now if i can just have them do something about the waitress i have gotten the last two times that would be excellent.

@#$ *&^% *&!!!!!

i was all excited to go to NYC this weekend. i even bought warm boots for the crazy cold weather and i am SICK!!!

i started vomiting at 3:44 this morning, then again at 5am. i spent the day in a cold sweat. my back REALLY hurts and i have eaten only 8 saltines, applesauce, and dry toast. i have been drinking water, tea, apple juice and ginger ale.

Russ made some pasta, i asked for one piece and it smelled like vomit to me. yuck.

i hate this so much.

my body really let me down this time.

my office needs one of these!

it makes coffee, toasts a bagel (or whatever) and fries an egg! Awesome!

the hunt continues!

I’m sorry about all the job posts but that’s really all I think about lately. Maybe I should start a new blog about job hunting.

So far I have received a call from a company who was going to pay me less than what I make now. I have also declined an offer due to crappy benefits. Since then all has been quiet. There is not much I have not applied for so…

I think I have to start looking outside the box.

Donate eggs? ($8,000 -$10,000)

Become a surrogate? ($20,000 - $30,000)

Sell my Virginity? Ok we all know I live in sin, so this one wont work but check out this girl. She has been offered over 3 million dollars, and now a tiger!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/4238344/Student-offered-live-tiger-in-exchange-for-her-virginity.html

I have two chef friends that I have been talking to about starting a catering business.

In Virginia you cannot cater out of the same kitchen you cook family meal from. So the first part to tackle would be finding a kitchen, after that I would have to deal with caterers insurance and all forms of business licenses before the real work could begin. If I am the event planner / business manager I figure I would personally need to coordinate 1 wedding/event a month in order to pay my bills. Of corse the more events the better, just in case there is a month without any events. As much I want to do this there a few things hindering me.

The Economy – in these times how many events can I realistically book?

The Competition – there are so many other event planners/ wedding planners/ caterers in this area why would people want to come to me/us? I guess I would have to do the Marketing too, if nothing else I would wear a lot of hats.

My Boyfriend – is it realistic and/or feasible to expect my boyfriend to pay the mortgage and bills on months we are slow? Should I pull from my savings to pay bills when my income won’t? Do I take a part time job on top of all my other duties?????

The questions are many!

Any other job ideas anyone?

This is why i love my boyfriend..

Text message from me:

I decided NOT to take the job.

Text from him:

OK. Good 2 take a stand. I think u r super qualified, super hireable, and really hot which helps.

Did I make a huge mistake???

I decided NOT to take the job!

In the end I think I would have been very unhappy. On the bright side I have another interview in the same building later this week.

I think that was a good negotiating experience, Tierney you were right! Not taking the job was the right thing to do. If they were not going to give me anything I asked for when I was their number one choice, what would it have been like to work there?

So hopefully something better will come along because I need to get out of here!

what to do????

so as you know i have been looking for a new job.

last week i had an interview.

today i got offered the job.

BUT...

there is a problem. the benefits are not as good as the ones i have now and i feel like if i take the job it will be a step backwards benefits wise.

the pro's of taking the new job:
  • shorter commute
  • a bit more money (but not much)
  • free breakfast and lunch
  • free parking
  • great networking
the con's of taking the new job:
  • benefits don't kick in for 6 months
  • i only get 1 week of vacation after 1 year (i have 2 weeks now)
  • the work space is very cramped
  • i have to buy more suits
what do you think i should do? i am so conflicted?

i want to go to work on Monday and hand in my resignation, and at the same time i want to wait to see if i can find something better.

Help.
